| TRUST ME, WE'RE FRIENDS: CAN YOUR BUSINESS PROFIT FROM ONLINE COMMUNITIES?
[MIMA SALON]
Heres the dream: Theres a group of your most loyal customers, all hanging out online, talking about how great you are and how to get the most out of your product. And then? Then new people come. They read. They listen. And they buy. Welcome to the business application for online communities. What are they? Who uses them? How does social networking affect your business, from sales to marketing to HR? At our September salon, Nina Hale will lead a discussion on current trends, new communities, failed and failing communities. We’ll debate how online strategists can (or can’t) create and guide a community which by its very definition has to be maintained by the users. And we’ll try to come away feeling a bit more able to advise our companies on how to respond to this phenomenon. Do your homework. Visit MeetUp, Flickr, Friendster, LinkedIn and BlackPlanet and get ready to contribute. SPECIAL GUEST: Chuck Hermes, Clockwork. Nina Hale Bio Nina Hale has been skulking around online communities since the early ‘80s on the experimental precursors to the WWW such as Control Data’s “Plato” and IBM’s “The Source.” She actually owned “nina@aol.com” in the early ‘90s. In her day job, Nina is the Senior Marketing Manager – Online, for Capella University. She holds an MBA in Marketing and Operations from the Carlson School of Management and a BA in American Civilization from Brown University. |
