COPYWRITER II

Primary Objective(s)

The primary responsibilities of the Copywriter II are to produce marketing-focused Web copy for law firms. Copywriters must be able to effectively interview clients, have some knowledge of the legal market, and an understanding of search engine optimization (SEO). In addition, copywriters must work cross-functionally with search engine marketing consultants, designers, and project managers to produce effective Web sites and meet project deadlines.

FindLaw (www.findlaw.com) is the leading provider of online legal information and solutions for the legal community, professionals and consumers

Key Responsibilities

- Production
- Write unique and effective search engine optimized content for FindLaw customers, producing a minimum of 26 pages of Web content a week
- Interview attorneys to gather information that is relevant to marketing their law firms marketing strategy and their legal practice areas
- Perform edits & revisions related to content written by working with copyeditors, project managers and the FindLaw customer
- Understand and follow department workflow procedures
- Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of general marketing and Internet search engine marketing principles through training, review of literature, self-study and application
- Develop and maintain a working understanding of legal practice areas

- Strategy
- Work with the Content team to understand and provide input on best practices for Subscription Services Content teamQualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

- JD strongly preferred

Experience

- 1-2 years of professional writing experience in marketing, communications or similar field required

Knowledge

- Basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) standards preferred
- Familiarity with AP style preferred

Skills

- Strong written and oral communication required
- Strong conceptual/problem-solving skills
- Ability to understand Internet marketing needs and to provide appropriate creative responses to those needs
- Ability to work proactively and effectively within a fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environment
- High level of self-direction, self-motivation, and energy
- Proficiency in Word required
