Digital Strategic Planner

 

The Digital Strategic Planner is located at General Mills in Minneapolis, MN and reports to the Imagination Account Director also located in Minneapolis, with secondary reporting to General Mills leadership at Imagination in Chicago.  This person will be the primary point of contact for the Box Tops for Education brand.

 

In this role, the DSP will drive social strategy, planning, optimization and content development for the Box Tops brand. Additionally, this person will manage the reporting, metrics and analysis for Box Tops, as well as provide strategic and tactical recommendations for the brand moving forward. The DSP will be responsible for annual strategic planning and reporting, and will provide consistent updates to General Mills and Imagination on learning, shifts and progress against all brand objectives.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

 

Strategic Planning

-          Provide strategic leadership for agency partners and internal stakeholders on social integration and practices

-          Lead annual planning for BTFE brand across multiple internal (GM) divisions, including content strategy, events and initiatives, PR Outreach and execution

-          Monitor and create quarterly competitive analysis of the competition in the cause marketing space

-          Develop social ad/media strategy

 

Strategic Integration

-          Strategize digital and social integration with brand team & agency partners

-          Create and support touch point alignment for consistent messaging

-          Work with Consumer Insight team to develop and execute Community understanding

-          Identify and explore opportunities for content sharing and support across Brands, Retailers, Partners

-          Integrate with Relationship Marketing on social and email content

-          Communicate BTFE content priorities/strategy to core sites, Brands, and Partners/Retailers

 

Content

-          Strategize content opportunities in partnership with BTFE Team and Agency Partners

-          Collaborate with Imagination’s content team to lead social content development/execution efforts

-          Create and maintain voice/tone documentation and escalation plans

-          Aggregate, develop and distribute inspiring content and opportunity landscape

 

Execution

-          Develop, maintain and manage Key Influencer, Blogger and other source relationships

-          Lead social media monitoring efforts, share findings, address issues and opportunities

-          Liaison with PR and other internal GM marketing departments

-          Represent and bring share findings from external marketing associations and other sources

-          Provide directional findings and actionable insights across all metrics

-          Develop and share trend reporting and opportunity landscape

-          Aggregate metrics and provide campaign scorecard across all execution channels

-          Manage social ad/media campaign(s) including reporting/findings

 

Governance

-          Provide governance and strategic alignment for content/promotion integration

-          Serve as point of contact for BTFE Team for questions, changes to plans or follow-up

-          Identify best practices across platforms and advise on improvements to processes as needed

 

 

Experimentation and Opportunity Development

-          Create strategic plan around experimentation opportunities and channel expansion/growth

-          Identify and vet digital/social opportunities to drive growth, expansion, impact, and value proposition

 

Position Requirements

-          Minimum of six years’ experience in digital strategy development

-          Understanding of and experience with website, online media, social media, mobile media strategy and development

-          Strong oral and written communication skills

-          Understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies

-          Excellent presentation and listening skills; ability to think quickly and deliver consultative response

-          Working knowledge of media and communications planning, direct and relationship marketing, and integrated marketing
