As a member of the Communications Group, the Front End Developer/Designer is responsible for creating and implementing designs for interactive elements, promotional materials for use on the Carlson School website, user interfaces for the Carlson School portal/intranet, online applications and promotional e-mails. This position will also work closely with members of the Client Services team and the School's I.T. team to produce a wide variety of electronic communications tools. The Front End Developer/Designer will work to ensure visual brand compliance and standards within all electronic mediums. This position will work closely with the school's program offices, academic departments and centers, Information Technology, other members of the Communications Group, and outside agencies and vendors to implement our brand image throughout our electronic marketing materials.
Duties/Responsibilities
Perform these day-to-day activities required to advance Carlson School marketing communication initiatives:
1. Front end Development (60%): Responsible for the creation and implementation of all front-end development for the Carlson School website. Work with members of the Carlson School web team, internal clients, and members of the Information Technology team on a daily basis. Implement new and existing code into the Carlson School website, social media outlets, and other electronic marketing communications.
2. Project management and client service (10%): Prioritize and manage concurrent projects that support the execution of client interactive marketing plans. Complete projects on time and on budget. Make client presentations. Observe department norms for quality, accuracy, responsiveness, and overall customer service. Ongoing maintenance/updates to existing sites as needed.
3. Interactive Design (25%): Design custom electronic communications to be used by program offices or school wide. Implement designs utilizing the web style guide and the content management system. Update and maintain the web style guide as needed. Design user interfaces for our portal/intranet and various online applications utilizing design style guides established for the website and other marketing materials. Create standards for email marketing communications, social networking and Web 2.0 technologies. Design and develop CD-ROMs, DVD, information kiosks, and all other interactive projects.
4. Brand Stewardship (5%): Consistently and strategically interpret and apply University of Minnesota and Carlson School graphic requirements to Carlson School interactive marketing materials. Coach internal customers and external creative vendors on brand principles, where appropriate. Maintain the Carlson School's interactive style guide and visual identity guidelines.
