Job Summary

The Lead Front-end Developer is responsible transforming interaction design and visual designs in to code for web-based applications including traditional web and mobile devices / apps.  This position is for you if you are an expert in HTML & CSS wizardry, self-motivated to learning anything and everything innovative in interactive user interfaces and driven to deliver highly interactive, personalized experiences.

Beyond delivering exceptional code, this position will be responsible for providing mentorship to and developing more junior talent as well as developing standards to ensure consistent and scalable CSS. Order-takers need not apply.

Essential Functions and Traits

• Expert at converting PSD compositions into HTML and CSS markup
• Strong working knowledge and experience using Javascript (jQuery, AJAX)
• Must have experience with HTML5 & CSS3
• Must have experience with responsive design and building user interfaces targeted for mobile
• Must have high attention to detail, capable of pixel-perfect page construction that performs well across browsers
• Must write clean, semantic, valid markup and modular, cascading, reusable CSS.

• Ability to work with designers to quickly prototype interactive experiences & iterate
• Solid experience creating truly interactive sites including dynamic content loading, rich graphical effects, as well as animations and transitions with web standards technologies
• Knowledge of 508 / Accessibility Guidelines is a plus
• Social web service API experience (i.e. Google Maps, Facebook Connect, etc.)

Education, Experience and Other Skills

• Minimum of 5+ years related experience in interactive front-end development
• Mobile application and mobile website development
• Minimum of 1 year leading & mentoring junior employees
• Experience working on a multi-faceted, large consumer-facing internet property
• Demonstrated experience with internet analytics and user personalization

• Strong work ethic, a drive for success and proactive attitude with a desire to work with cross-functional teams
• Strong communication skills and excellent problem solving / analytical skills
• Willingness and self-direction to learn new skills and foster innovation across team and to other disciplines
