JOB SUMMARY 
Under general supervision of the Public Affairs and Marketing (PAM) Manager, the Graphic Designer is responsible for the designing, implementation, and coordination of a wide variety of creative and complex graphic artwork for all Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) public information and marketing programs, including for the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and MAC’s six Reliever Airports.
The Graphic Designer is responsible for maintaining consistent brand identities across all media, and will provide design and artistic guidance for print and digital graphic design projects to include, but not limited to, advertisements, terminal and concessions guides, brochures, reports, flyers, newsletters, posters, maps, direct mail pieces, backlit signs, wall wraps, digital and printed signage, billboards, exhibits and displays, presentations, banners, web page designs, , business cards, letterhead, and specialty items.
The Graphic Designer works with PAM staff to design internal communication components for specific projects and assists the PAM Department with photography, video and web projects as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS
Supervisory – Reports to Manager, Public Affairs and Marketing
Organizational – Frequent contact with Commercial Management and Landside Operations staff members, some contact with other MAC staff
External Business – Frequent contact with print vendors and web and design consultants, as well as airport tenants
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
A. Graphic Design
 Assists the Public Affairs & Marketing Department with executing marketing, public relations and advertising strategies through artwork and design helping to facilitate the most effective methods for achieving departmental and organizational goals
 Designs page layouts for multi-color, multi-page print publications and advertisements
 Designs advertisements and other graphics for digital and online mediums
 Researches and stays up-to-date with the latest design, production technologies, and proven best practices
 Coordinates design work with external designers, photographers and illustrators
 Designs, coordinates and art directs the installation of exhibits and displays, including backlit advertisements and terminal directories
 Manipulates and edits both stock and in-house photography for artwork
 Develops, enforces and maintains style guidelines to ensure designs and artwork meet established standards
B. Pre-Press & Print Production
 Requests and obtains print bids
 Coordinates work with print vendors to ensure budget, brand and deadlines are maintained
 Prepares print and/or production specifications and final artwork in digital format for vendors; expedites deliveries of project orders
 As needed, attends press checks to ensure project specifications are adhered to properly before project delivery
 Researches, recommends, and keeps current on new materials, methods, and techniques of production and equipment as related to graphic design printing, presentations, computer graphic hardware and software
C. Photography and Videography
 Uses camera and video equipment to take photographs and video footage for publication in various mediums and platforms
 Assists with professional onsite and offsite photo shoots to provide creative feedback and suggestions
 Catalogues, tags, builds and maintains image library
D. Project Management
 Coordinates design projects through use of project management software including tracking deadlines, project status and managing scheduling conflicts within appropriate timing to allow proper resolution.
 Estimates time required to complete design projects
 Produces and circulates proofs
 Packages and deploys files for print or web production
 Coordinates installation of wall wraps, signage, exhibits, displays, etc.

B. Minimum Requirements
• A Bachelor’s in graphic design, graphic arts, fine arts, or equivalent
• Four years of professional design experience with publications, marketing and advertising materials and graphics
• Two years of professional experience working in an agency or a corporate environment
• Two years of experience with all phases of design to include layout, illustration, typography and printing processes
• Experience working with outside resources, such as vendors, photographers, printers and freelancers
• Advanced skill level using Adobe Create Suite software to include Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
• Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

C. Desirable Requirements
• Experience with art direction or creative strategy in an agency or corporate setting
• Copywriting and editing experience
• Both Business to Consumer (B2C) and Business to Business (B2B) design experience
• Professional experience in photography and use of professional digital and video camera equipment, including video editing software
• Experience with website design and using website content management systems
• One year of professional experience using Adobe Flash or similar
