JOB DESCRIPTION:

As part of the User Experience & Creative Services team, this information architect will develop specifications for new site features and enhancements that meet business objectives. S/he will create prototypes and requirement/specification documents, navigational structures; develop flow diagrams, wireframes and site maps; and work with designers and developers to translate wireframes into prototypes and complete visual compositions. Additional responsibilities will include providing input for user research and usability test plans; and working with site management to deliver projects from concept into functioning products. This position is also accountable for determining impacts and developing specifications for the following in-house tools:, CSEE and Express Lane.

Qualified candidates will have experience in information architecture, interactive design, human factors engineering, cognitive science and usability testing in the development of web sites and/or web based applications, combined with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline. Must have the ability to collaborate in a visual manner with graphic interface designers; a solid command of User Experience offerings across research and design; knowledge of user behavior and site technical organization/operations; and a strong sense of process and the ability to innovate on processes, tools and conventions. Additional experience includes working knowledge of Internet technologies.

IA will gather end-user product requirements, transforming the requirements into high fidelity navigation schemas, process flows, wireframes and functional specifications for interactive tools, forms and user scenarios. Obtain direction and input from business owners, business requirements, content experts, and designers and update recommendations as needed. Responsible for incorporating usability findings into the user experience.

Ensure coherence and consistency of the various features, aligning the information architecture with emerging technologies and developing integrated, end-to-end models for a highly usable information architecture.

•  Work with cross functional matrix team to consider usability and functionality models and integrate them with concepts
•  Knowledge of HCI or instructional design
•  Knowledge of Bloom's Taxonomy of Cognitive Abilities helpful
•  Understanding of and experience with interactive usability models
•  Ability to document functional specifications in an efficient manner
•  Determine performance needs for audiences and systems
•  Practical experience in one or more of the following: Tognazzini/NielsenNorman Group UI design principles; IBM, Apple or Ameritech human computer interaction principles; Sun, Yale or Microsoft Web usability principles
•  Knowledge of Verity, ATG, and enterprise content management servers helpful
•  Coordinate with visual designers and developers to translate the product design decisions into an effective user interface

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

•  4 or more years -  Experience in human computer interaction fundamentals and methodologies
•  2 or more years -  Experience with object-oriented design practices and content modeling
•  2 or more years -  Experience with multiple software interfaces (Web, GUI, etc.)
•  2 or more years -  Experience incorporating branding strategies, interactive design specifications, design models/prototypes and QA processes/use cases into the plan
•  3 or more years -  Experience working in a strategic of functional role using web development methodologies
•  2 or more years -  Experience with Visio, Axure, content management systems and analysis and testing of web applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Bachelors Degree (4 yr)
•  Usability Certification
