MARKETING AND CONTENT DIRECTOR Grassroots Solutions  

grassroots solutions is seeking candidates to fill a new Marketing and Content Director position, to be based in our Minneapolis, Minnesota office.

 

The Firm and the Opportunity

 

Established in 1999, grassroots solutions was one of the first full-service grassroots consulting firms to open for business in the United States (http://www.grassrootssolutions.com/).  Now thirteen years old and with thirty-five employees, the firm is based in Minneapolis, MN, with offices in Washington, DC, New York, NY and Portland, ME. The grassroots solutions team are experts at getting people involved, keeping them involved, and achieving results – in the contexts of community engagement strategies, issue and policy advocacy, electoral campaigns, and corporate communications and advocacy.

 

grassroots solutions is looking to hire a seasoned marketing professional with significant writing and editorial experience to oversee all of the firm’s marketing and communications initiatives.  Working with one of the firm’s principals and two team members, you will have both strategic and hands-on responsibilities for all of the firm’s social media and website initiatives, email marketing campaigns, lead generation and client relationship-building efforts, printed collateral, and events. 

 

grassroots solutions is growing, and this position offers an opportunity for an ambitious professional to lead the firm’s efforts to build its brand and ambassadors in targeted markets, maximize the visibility of its client service work, and develop innovative strategies to broaden and deepen its client relationships.  We have recently entered into a partnership with the digital agency Echoditto (http://www.echoditto.com), further strengthening grassroots solutions’ capacity and expertise in bringing integrated online and offline organizing solutions to our clients.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

ü  Develop, execute, and evaluate results of the firm’s annual marketing and communications plan

ü  Conceive, develop and serve as the primary provider of all of the firm’s editorial and marketing content, both online and in printed form

ü  Ensure that the firm’s brand identity is enhanced through clear and consistent messaging that maximizes SEO performance and represents a compelling “voice,” value proposition, and competitive differentiation

ü  Provide strategic direction, resources, and expert support for the firm’s client cultivation and revenue generation efforts

ü  Develop and execute strategies to promote the firm’s new products and services

ü  Develop, provide training for, and maintain appropriate systems to standardize content for the firm’s client proposals, case studies, and service line pitches

ü  Develop and execute new standards to strengthen the format, graphic integrity, and production of all of the firm’s written client deliverables

ü  Ensure that the firm regularly monitors emerging trends and best practices in marketing and communications, and provide expert counsel to firm principals in these areas

ü  Provide effective management of the marketing and communications function, supervising team members and overseeing firm-wide systems relating to marketing and communications

 

 

Core Competencies

You have an excellent track record

o  Minimum of 5 – 7 years of professional experience in either a nonprofit marketing or communications unit, marketing agency, or related setting

o  Content production, editing and publishing experience

o  Specific experience managing electronic marketing and communications, including email marketing and web/social media

o  Employee supervision experience

o  Experience drafting and managing annual plans, including budgets

o  Specific experience with multi-channel direct response marketing desirable

 

You are an exceptional communicator

o  Copy writing, editing and creative development experience

o  Significant portfolio of web writing

o  Proven ability to translate internal jargon and work products into compelling stories

o  Experience with online video desirable
