In this marketing role, the Product Category Manager conducts margin analysis, industry/market research, and in-life performance measurement to determine product demand, positioning, viability, and profitability. As a Product Category Manager for Streicher’s, you will have full control as to what products we promote, the placement of products, and the pricing of those products to maximize profit in a select group of specific product categories. The ultimate goal is to grow sales and expand profit margins in the categories you are responsible for. You will work closely with, and report to, the Vice President of Marketing.
This is a full-time, in-office position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (hours may vary slightly) at Streicher’s corporate offices in Plymouth, MN.
Streicher’s is a family-owned retail, catalog, and e-commerce merchant and has been providing law enforcement and public safety equipment to the market for 60 years.
Education & Experience REQUIREMENTS
University degree or college diploma in business marketing, or similar.
Two to five years marketing and/or product development experience preferred.
Knowledge & Skill REQUIREMENTS
Be comfortable in an environment promoting, handling, and selling firearms and firearm accessories in a responsible manner;
Ability to exercise tact and display good interpersonal skills;
Strong project management, problem-solving and analytical thinking skills;
Ability to develop strong relationships and work with senior level executives;
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills;
Solid business acumen, management and marketing communications skills;
Be a self-starter, reliable, and highly motivated person able to work in a fast paced environment that is continually changing;
Should be comfortable working in Windows-based IT environment. Experience with CMS and/or ERP software preferred;
Ability to conduct responsibilities outside of normal job duties on an as-needed basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
Identify and present innovative and creative product marketing solutions.
Maintain product visibility and awareness in all channels, including Streicher’s retail stores, print catalogs, online e-commerce website, and social media.
Monitor the competition and industry to set product pricing at acceptable margin levels.
Recommend new products to management on a regular basis; present factual related market data to support the recommendations.
Display a high level of critical thinking in cross-functional process analysis and problem resolution for new and existing products.
Coordinate and build strong working relations with various internal organizations including; IT, Sales, Marketing, & Operations.
Coordinate and build strong working relations with Streicher’s vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers.
Lead the development, approval, training, and communication of new products/product changes and their associated customer, operational, system, & process impacts to the various internal organizations.
Develop & conduct specialized training on new products launched and raise awareness & application of relevant subject matter.
Write effective, creative copy for products and events.
