Senior Digital Product Manager Minneapolis Star Tribune

Job Description:
The Star Tribune is seeking a Senior Product Manager for its Digital Business Development Group.  This person will be responsible for all aspects of evolving digital advertising products and services to achieve goals around marketer satisfaction, revenue, and site use.   This position reports to the Executive Director of Digital and provides marketing leadership and expertise for sales and marketing teams and applies strategic use of the marketing mix.
 
The successful candidate is a creative problem solver and expert communicator.  This candidate must be well organized and a self-starter with a positive outlook and a passion for digital advertising products.

Responsibilities:

  • •    Identify opportunities for advertisers through active collaboration with the sales team and best-practice research of other web sites.
  • •    Manage cross-functional teams to develop and implement products.
  • •    Monitor products to make sure they achieve revenue goals and meet marketer needs.
  • •    Develop and distribute actionable product reports to stakeholders.
  • •    Interface with ad operations, development, and sales teams to coordinate new ad packages, sponsorships, and ad options being offered.
  • •    Find and manage vendors who can assist in supporting ad products
  • •    Work with technology teams to identify and design new tools and systems to improve efficiency

Qualifications:

  • •    BA in business management, marketing, or communication.  Business experience related to these fields.
  • •    Experience in the following fields is a strong plus:  project management, product development, Digital Media, sales, direct marketing.
  • •    Experience developing business cases to include developing product P & L’s.
  • •    Project management experience to include developing specifications and requirements, standard project management processes and tools, managing a timeline, and managing a budget.
  • •    Strong analytical skills.  
  • •    Creative problem solving.
  • •    Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • •    Familiarity with banner advertising, search engine marketing, behavioral targeting, and e-mail marketing is a plus.
  • •    A passion for digital media and an ability to relate new technologies to solve consumer and marketer needs.
  • •    Ability to work with many different stakeholders –including sales, marketing, operations, IT, and editorial.
  • •    Excellent verbal and communication skills.
