Job Summary for Senior QA Tester

Solid tester with regression and some automation required.  Verify and validate the quality of interactive and dynamic applications ranging from web-based projects up to enterprise sized endeavors.  Ensure that the quality of all software deliverables matches the level promised to the client.  Perform application, usability, functional, regression and performance testing for business applications. Evaluate testing results and enter problem reports in a problem tracking system. Review product specifications and generate test plans and test cases for the product under test. Be directly involved in QA project planning and scheduling including test plan reviews. Develop custom test-harnesses and automated test scripts.  Oversee the QA Department.  Communicate product readiness, level of quality, and results to the Team Manager.

Essential Functions

•             Work with Interactive Business Analyst and Developers to clarify and understand functional and software requirements

•             Analyze functional requirements to determine software application testing requirements and creates test traceability matrix

•             Write test cases from requirements

•             Execute test cases and document results for test case execution.

•             Analyze test results, problems, or failures

•             Open and document defects

•             Utilize effective time management skills to work on multiple projects simultaneously

•             Responsible for ensuring that the software meets client expectations and client satisfaction

•             Provide regular status reports to Team Manager and/or Project Manager

•             Ensure that all test tasks follow Ratchet’s QA methodology and that deliverable meets applicable Ratchet standards

•             Perform functional, regression, browser compatibility and Pixel Perfect testing

Other Functions

•             Guide and mentor less-experienced technical team members

•             Keep abreast of new technologies, implementation methodologies and industry best practices

•             May perform other job related duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Other Skills

•             Bachelor’s degree required

•             At least 5 years web testing experience, in a combination of both marketing and IT fields

•             Hold current QA certification from an accredited organization (QAI, IIST, ASTQB, ISTQB)

•             Manual testing experience

•             Exposure to automated testing

•             Skilled at analysis and troubleshooting on web based software

•             Experience using bug tracking tools

•             Experience using formal software development methodologies

•             Exposure to creating and analyzing database queries, preferably SQL Server 2000 and up

•             Excellent written and oral communication skills

•             Must possess a strong attention to detail
