Position Summary:
The Sr. Interactive Developer creates, enhances, and maintains frameworks used to create interactive media for Capella University’s courses and websites while collaborating closely with other interactive designers. This individual reports to the Manager of Course Media, whose team has responsibility for creating instructional multimedia, interface design, front-end development, ADA compliance and usability.

Responsibilities:
•    Develop frameworks, templates and tools for other team members or partners to build interactives and media.
•    Collaborate with interactive designers to create interactive multimedia elements, animations and simulations for Capella’s courses,
•    Give creative input regarding enhancements to our use of technology in the delivery of instructional media.
•    Assist in all phases of creative work from concept through production.
•    Introduce innovative solutions and effectively leverage technology to deliver on instructional goals.
•    Ensure that media is accessible to all groups including those with disabilities.
•    Communicate status and risks to project leaders and partners.
•    Provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to the rest of the Course Media team.
•    Keep current with technology trends and best practices.
•    Collaborate with usability team to test and refine designs.

Qualifications:
•    Experience developing interactive frameworks and toolkits (open source or proprietary) such as jQuery and MooTools. This should include in-depth understanding of how the framework works and regular contributions to its enhancement.
•    Minimum of five years experience programming in ActionScript, JavaScript, Java, or C# using object-oriented techniques.
•    Minimum 1 year of experience in front-end / user experience programming, including experience collaborating with user experience designers. Strong background in object-oriented software design techniques, including design patterns.
•    Collaborative: works creatively within a team, contributing to the effort and drawing inspiration from others’ ideas.
•    Experience with event-driven programming.
•    At least a basic familiarity with Flash technology and experience with ActionScript 3.0. Expertise level familiarity with Flash and ActionScript 3.0 preferred.
•    Several years experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS with HTML5 and CSS3 experience a strong plus.
•    Understanding of user-centered design and usability a plus.
•    Strong prioritization and time management skills to balance multiple demands. Attention to detail and good communication skills.
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in computer science or related field.
