DETAILS:
Remember back in the day when you would say silly things like Im a print designer, I do post-work for TV, or I design for the web? Sounds kinda funny now, huh? That's because our industry has transformed into a rapidly evolving world that includes a mashup of video, print, mobile, motion graphics, custom apps, widgets, games, streaming, dynamic content, interface design, DIY CMSs, blogs, social media, search, analytics and who knows what? Phew!
So how do we wrap our arms around designing for all these platforms? Our August speaker has promised to enlighten us on this very topic.
About the speaker
John Dames, Design Director at CoolFire Media, will share his experiences as a designer who has done it all. With a background in print design, motion graphics, commercials and most recently iPhone applications, John will talk about the inspiration and the translation of ideas across mediums. As Design Director at CoolFire John is charged with developing big ideas for big brands including Nike, Pontiac, Karl Lagerfeld, Mitsubishi and (hush hush!) a small company based in Cupertino that has a fruit logo.
John's philosophy is simple. "My goal is now and has always been to make stuff. Not talk about it, write about it or think on it. But actually find a way to get it done and execute." How refreshing, make sure to join us.
What you will learn
+ Solutions for designers working across all platforms.
+ What "designer" means in today's world.
