<p>Specifically, the Web Designer will facilitate Hamline's online communication strategy as it applies to the website, online marketing, search engine strategy, and coordination with other communications tactics. The Web Designer will work with the Web Design Director and other technology and creative staff, as well as various clients throughout the university to conceive and create websites, email, and online communications that promote a positive, high-quality image of the university and are consistent with the university's brand and editorial and visual identity standards. </p>
<p>ACCOUNTABILITIES<br />
- Assist with the conceptualization, writing, editing, design, testing, and developing of online content, including website content, e-newsletters, e-greetings, news items, and visual assets. Create web design that effectively translates the Hamline identity to the website, in accordance with the university's reputation, mission, and visual and editorial identity.<br />
- Provide project-based assistance to schools, departments, or units wishing to create or enhance their web presence. Establish effective working relationships with clients from throughout the university, communicating policies, guidelines, and standards.<br />
- Serve as lead editor of Inside Hamline Daily, a daily news and information e-newsletter sent to students, faculty, and staff of the university. <br />
- Design and develop content for university-level websites as requested. </p>
<p>REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS </p>
<p>This position reports to the Web Design Director and works closely with other members of Creative and Web Services and Information Technology Services. </p>

MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS </p>

<p>- Minimum 2 years experience in creating and maintaining web pages, including experience with web design software packages, HTML, FTP software, image-editing programs, content management systems, and file management. Experience with animation software and video and audio streaming preferred.<br />
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Minimum 2 years of professional writing and editing experience for electronic/online media<br />
- Excellent visual design skills. Minimum 2 years professional website design experience or professional training<br />
- Experience with marketing and communications in a college or university setting preferred. <br />
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, content management systems, and email software </p>
